who are we?

The AAO Movement is a Christian founded community intervention dedicated to mobilizing at-risk youth in Alachua County as healing conquerors of adversity.

We are a collective team of artists, scholars, and entrepreneurs dedicated to inspiring the next generation of youth to become the world's next artists, activists, leaders, organizers, entrepreneurs', storytellers, and changemakers.

 Through centering youth voices, we encourage at-risk youth facing adversity to become a part of The Against All Odds movement so that they can use their stories and gifts to catalyze their own resiliency, to collaborate with like-minded youth in the community, and to learn to actively use their voices for change, and to develop themselves as leaders through storytelling and artistic expression. 

We motivate youth at-risk with lived experiences in adversities related to foster care/aging out of the system, trauma, juvenile violence, abuse, homelessness, and poverty and other related adversities to use their gifts as a means of healing and resiliency through storytelling.

Through providing spaces for expression, writing, digital op-eds, community story sharing events, leadership development, and arts interventions. Through our programming, we strive to encourage students to find purpose, healing, and meaning through their unique God-given gifts and identities.

Through local journalism opportunities, HOPE Podcast, Op-Eds, contests and scholarships, community programming, community partnerships, workshops events, success coaching and more, we strive to prevail against all odds in providing a quality mentorship experience for youth!
